How can I train my cat to use the toilet? :7 Steps

I see this as a way to reduce the use of litter in the home, save the environment and make feline waste disposal more effective. Obviously, an outdoor cat would have no use for this training.

I did it with my former roommate, cookies and cream. The theory is: slowly move the litter to the toilet, let it sink into the litter, success! Failures (aka shit randomly on the ground) must be compensated for by operational negative reinforcement, especially by a water spray gun, and a return to the previous stage of the process until the cat is comfortable enough to continue. If you can not catch the cat immediately during the act, then bring them to the crash site, and hold their noses close to the shit, spray them with water and in a stern voice say "bad Kitty!". If you can catch them in flagrante delicto, then you might want to try to take the cat to the bathroom, because the urge to piss / poo will still be there.

Materials:

Normal litter box

Small plastic toilet litter box (look in the tupperware aisle at the grocery store for a perfect fit!)

Disposable litter (preferably pine litter)

Cardboard boxes

Young cat (under 2 years old)

13 Techniques Can Help You -How do I gain a cat's trust?

Instructions (wait 3-6 months of training time)

1. Move the litter box near the toilet, wait a week.

2. Place the book / newspaper / cardboard box under the litter box, lifting it 1 inch, wait 1 week for the cat to adjust.

3. Move the box higher each week until it is level with the toilet, back down if the cat is simply not prepared for the new height.

4. Transition Step: Place the plastic litter box inside the toilet and fill it with litter, wait a week. This is the most difficult step, it can take a few weeks back.

5. Once the cat has learned to use the litter inside the toilet, you are almost at home. Using a sharp saw, cut a random hole about 3 inches in diameter. The hole will be large enough for the cat to slide one leg in, but small enough so that the cat can still use litter as a platform for his tasks. Wait 1 week

6. Continue to remove the same amount of plastic each time, until there are small islands that look like Swiss cheese for the cat to rise. Wait 1 week. Make sure there is ALWAYS fresh litter, no matter the size, smell and feel of litter preparing the cat to leave.

7. Cut the center of the litter box, leaving only fresh litter around the sides of the box.

The Guide: What is the best way to bathe a cat?

At this point, the cat should have taken to rest the front legs on the toilet, and the hind legs on the box, otherwise, then you're done! Otherwise, some creativity may be needed at this stage.

When the process is complete, you will never need to use litter again and you will never have to pick up the leftover cats!
